The Laval medieval castle
 

which still has all its original defences and which has been home to the 1st Museum of Naive Art in France for the past 20 years. Of special interest are the works of the Laval-born painter Henri Rousseau, nicknamed ‘Douanier Rousseau’ (due to his job as a Customs Officer).

Jublains
 

a Gallo-Roman fortified town located 20 km from Laval. This ancient site is the most well conserved of all those north of the Loire.
